What does apochromatic mean?

Answer provided by Scott Mulrooney.

Chromatic aberration occurs because glass lenses refract light colors by differing amounts. This is most often observed as color fringing in high contrast portions of images – that rainbow along the edge of light/dark boundaries. An apochromatic lens system uses two or more lenses in an element that provides color correction.
