Our annual
Gallery Show
is a chance for all members to have their favorite photographs of the year shown in a gallery and optionally offered for sale.
The Gallery show will be at the
Delta Township District Library
, located at 5130 Davenport Drive in Lansing.
Setup at the library will be October 27 starting at 6:30 PM. If you are unable to attend in person, please make arrangements with another member to take in your prints.
The deadline for entering is October 14. We'll send out an official entry form via email, which can be brought to the October meeting. You can also mail them to the PO Box, listed on the Contact page. All entries sent to the PO Box must be postmarked no later than the 14th. We cannot accept late entries!
The reception is on Saturday, November 7, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Delta Township District Library. Please invite family and friends to check out all the cool prints!
The show will end December 31. We will schedule a time to pick up prints.
Each member is allowed up to two prints of their favorite photos of the year. You may go back into your archives and use a print taken from previous years, but that print may not be used again for future shows.
The club will collect a $7 fee for each print entered to help cover costs.
All prints should be matted and framed.
You may optionally offer the print for sale. You can set your price as you see fit. Generally, however, you'll want to take your costs and double them to set the minimum price.
For a professional look, you can sign your prints, but this is optional. We frequently get asked, "How do you sign your print?" Most like to sign the photo itself, while others sign the mat. It's up to you! Or, use your initials or leave it blank. If you do sign your work, we recommend using acid-free pens. You can usually find nice pens in the scrap-book section of stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Target, Meijer, and even Barnes and Noble.
The photographer's name must be included on the back of the finished piece. This could be a card taped to the back. This is just to make sure the piece can be identified in the event that the title card is ever lost. (It *has* happened!)
There is no theme, so the subjects are unlimited, but
please keep it clean and family friendly
! Specifically, that means no nudity, partial nudity, depictions of violence, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco. MMPC officers reserve the right to reject any photo based on these criteria. A refund will be given for any rejected prints.
With mattes, the finished size may be no greater than 20x24 and no smaller than 8x10. With frames added, this may increase the overall size of your piece but that's okay. In other words, a 16x20 matted print going into a 16x20 frame with a 2" border will make the overall size 18x24, but the finished work is still 16x20.
We are including a People's Choice contest and a juried contest this year. On your application, you may opt out of these. Details will be posted later.
