Annual Best of MMPC Gallery Show
Our annual Best of MMPC Gallery Show is a chance for all members to have their best photograph of the year shown in a gallery and offered for sale. The gallery may be in an actual photography gallery, or it may be in some other location with heavy foot traffic. The gallery show will run for a month and will generally be held at the end of the year.
Each show will kick off with an opening reception where all members will have the opportunity to participate in promoting the club and the exhibitors in the show.
General Submission Guidelines:
- Each member is allowed one print only of their best photo of the year. You may go back into your archives and use a print taken from previous years, but that print may not be used again for future shows.
- Members will need to fill out an application form to be able to submit a work.
- The club will collect a small submission fee to help cover any costs associated with running the gallery show. The fee will vary depending on what needs to be covered.
- All submitted works will be matted and framed and available for sale.
- All prints must be signed by the photographer.
- The photographer's name must be printed on the back of the finished piece.
- There is no theme for this show, so the subjects are unlimited, but please keep it clean and family friendly.
- With mattes, the finished size may be no greater than 20x24 and no smaller than 8x10. With frames added, this may increase the overall size of your piece but that's okay. In other words, a 16x20 matted print going into a 16x20 frame with a 2" border will make the overall size 18x24, but the finished work is still 16x20.
- Each print must have a sale price. In a typical gallery show, there is something like a 60/40 split. 60 percent goes to the artist, while the remainder goes to the gallery. The details can vary, depending on the gallery. For 2007, for example, we did the show at the Gone Wired Cafe, which does not collect a split at all.
