Mid Michigan Photography Club

The Mid Michigan Photography club was founded in 2006 by Ron St. Germain with the help of June Cooke. Ron is a professional photographer in the Lansing area and is the recipient of 27 professional awards for published works, including four at the highest international level. June Cooke is a local artist and is part-owner of Art Anew.

Mission Statement

The Mid Michigan Photography Club is:

• A club where professionals, non-professionals, amateurs, and even non-photographers can feel welcome.
• A proactive orgnization specializing in improving skills with cameras, digital cameras, computer software and artistic expressions.
• Devoted to consistent updates on new improvements, technology and trends.
• A club which promotes photography.
• A club which emphasises heavy input from members on trials and errors.

Goals/Activities

• Photo critiquing. Members bring in photos each month for critiquing by other members. Critques are done in a positive manner to promote each member's level of experience.
• Quarterly photo contest. Members can compete for the big cookie!
• Guest speakers. We will be bringing in guest speakers from time to time to talk about various aspects of photography on a wide range of topics.
• Discussions and tutorials. Members give talks about various topics, such as photo techniques, equipment, using software, and so on.
• Art fairs and galleries. We will be hosting our own events, as well as participating in other events. Members will have a chance to sell their own work!
• Photo assignments. We depend on Woldumar to provide us with a roof over our heads. In return, we provide them with photos of events that Woldumar hosts.
• Group trips. We'll be planning to make group trips to photo hot spots around the state.
• A magazine of our own! This may be ambitious, but it's very exciting!
• Food! Did we mention we like food?
